Tomra poised to exhibit in Africa

Germany-based Tomra Sorting says it is preparing its display for the IFAT Africa 2017 event, which takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sept. 12-14, 2017.

Tomra Sorting says its display area will feature its latest sorting equipment in Hall 5, Stand 17, in the German pavilion of the exposition. Staff will be available “to share in-depth recycling expertise and discuss sensor-based sorting technologies, which can be used for a wide variety of applications,” says the company. Visitors can learn about machines designed to sort mixed nonmetallic and metals streams.

The company says its systems include Autosort, which waste management and recycling companies can use to process greater quantities of materials and achieve a higher purity of final recyclables. “Autosort is capable of handling high throughputs and recovering a wide range of recyclables from mixed streams while scanning for enhanced material information and color in combination,” says Tomra.

The company also says its sorting technology “requires very low energy consumption and is built to withstand the harshest conditions, such as dirty MRFs (material recovery facilities) and scorching heat.”

Recycling companies, municipalities and contractors from countries throughout Africa attend IFAT to increase awareness and take advantage of the enormous potential to improve the current waste and recycling momentum, according to Tomra.
