The housing body for the Responsible Recycling Practices (R2) Standard for electronics recyclers, Boulder, Colorado-based SERI, has named Sean De Vries R2 director.
In its “R2 Update” email, released Oct. 31, the organization says his responsibilities include working with the R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), leading the R2 Standard development process, providing guidance for standard implementation and educating stakeholder groups.
“R2 Update” quotes Corey Dehmey, SERI’s executive director, as saying, “Sean’s three-year tenure on the R2 Technical Advisory Committee and in-depth knowledge of the R2 Standard has allowed him to hit the ground running. His understanding of the industry, its various stakeholders and standards development is a tremendous asset to SERI and we are excited to have Sean as part of the team.”
Before joining SERI, De Vries was director of the Recycler Qualification Office (RQO), an organization established to audit and approve reuse and recycling organizations under the industry-led end-of-life electronics recycling programs across Canada. He also led the development process for the Electronics Reuse and Refurbishing Program (ERRP) and the Recycler Qualification Program (RQP).
