Eriez offers its Technical Center as a place for testing and problem-solving.

February 23, 2009

Magnetic equipment maker Eriez is reminding recyclers that its Technical Center, located adjacent to Eriez World Headquarters in Erie, Pa., has more than 100 types of permanent magnetic, electromagnetic, vibratory, screening, electronic metal detecting, hydraulic and flotation equipment available to test a wide variety of materials.

The company, in a news release, says it “provides a complete laboratory facility to evaluate and assess material samples and establish the most efficient and profitable ways for customers to process or handle these materials.”

The staff and equipment at the Eriez Technical Center can help customers with questions relating to flowsheet development, determination of potential use, characterization of product, best handling procedures or best separation approach for sample materials they submit.

Each year at Eriez’ Technical Center more than 400 material tests are conducted on customer-supplied samples, according to Joe Wernham, lab manager at the center. “Tests range from evaluating material flow on a vibratory feeder to classifying minerals through flotation technology and identifying contaminants in products through the use of X-ray equipment,” says Wernham.

“In addition to these routine material tests, pilot scale tests are also conducted in the Technical Center to evaluate various equipment combinations to provide the best processing solutions,” he adds.

The Eriez Technical Center also offers flowsheet development on a contract basis, and independent laboratories can also be contracted to perform assays. According to Wernham, sieve analyses and Davis Tube analyses are also available.

Recyclers and other customers are encouraged to visit the Technical Center for on-site participation in the actual testing procedures. Those who want to know more about submitting samples or visiting the Eriez Technical Center can go to http://www.eriez.com/SalesReps/ on the Web to find the name of an Eriez representative in their area.

Eriez designs and makes magnetic lift and separation, metal detection, X-ray, materials feeding, screening, conveying and controlling equipment have application in the process, metalworking, packaging, recycling, mining, aggregate and textile industries. The company makes and markets these products through 11 international facilities located on six continents. More information on Eriez can be found at www.eriez.com.
