Erie, Pennsylvania-based Eriez, a manufacturer of separation technologies, has announced plans to double the space to manufacture its line of metal detection products at its Erie headquarters, according to Tim Shuttleworth, president and CEO.

“Our sales for the new Xtreme Metal Detector have exceeded our forecast, and we have decided to double our manufacturing capacity this summer,” Shuttleworth says. The expansion is designed to shorten lead times and help meet demand in the plastics, food and other processing industries. “Plans include expanding the footprint for our plant as well as dedicating a significant amount of space to metal detection,” adds Shuttleworth.

“We have also noticed a spike in sales of the new Eriez Metal Loss Monitor in the recycling industry. The demand for this technology [in that sector] also be addressed by our plant expansion.”

According to Shuttleworth, the Xtreme Metal Detector surpasses previous units and competitive models with enhanced features, improved sensitivity, intuitive operation and exceptional reliability. Eriez also says the Xtreme Metal Detector blends simplicity and sophistication with its easy-to-navigate control with a seven-inch wide color interface.

The new detector has been made for light industry applications, including packaging, plastics and rubber, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemical and food processing. Other highlights include full QWERTY keyboard, a robust auto set-up, dedicated reject log and vivid display. “We modeled our interface after today’s stylish and advanced smartphones,” Shuttleworth points out.
