Tomra Sorting Recycling
has unveiled the next generation of its TITECH finder sensor-based metal sorting system at the IFAT Entsorga trade fair held in Munich, May 5-9. The new TITECH finder features Tomra’s Deep Data technology, which the company says is its latest innovation for collecting, processing and analyzing multiple metal object data in every moment.
Tomra says that its Deep Data technology has been combined with Tomra Sorting Recycling’s existing Suppixx image processing technology, which enhances electromagnetic sensor resolution and allows greater recognition accuracy. By operating in unison, the company says the two technologies enable intelligent object recognition by identifying the smallest differences in terms of the metal fraction’s shape, size and intensity. This allows the new generation TITECH finder to provide new sorting criteria for improving different sorting tasks such as wire recovery.
Tomra adds that using Deep Data enables the valves to be controlled with more precision, as the valves have twice the resolution of their predecessor, increased ejection accuracy and an improvement of product purity of between 5 and 15 percent is achieved.
By continually monitoring the entire conveyor belt and checking for permanent metal inclusions, Tomra says the TITECH finder facilitates open process control and reduces misfires while optimizing product quality and the stability of the sorting process.
Ines Hartwig, Tomra Sorting Recycling’s product manager, says, “Our objective is to continually innovate to provide the global recycling industry with the most effective and efficient sensor-based sorting systems. By introducing Deep Data and combining it with our existing Suppixx technology to allow collection, processing and analysis in every single moment, we have done just that.”
Hartwig adds, “IFAT provides us with the ideal opportunity to launch our new generation TITECH finder to the world and show how it can be used to improve profitability by enhancing product purity and reducing operating costs.”
Tomra Sorting Recycling, a business stream within Norway-based Tomra Sorting Solutions, supplies automated sorting systems under the brand name TITECH, which was founded in 1996.
