Cooper Recycling LLC, based in Livingston, Tenn., has announced the addition of an auto shredder at its Monroe, Tenn., yard.

        

In addition to its yards in Livingston and Monroe, Cooper Recycling also operates a facility in Sparta, Tenn. The Livingston and Sparta locations will be used as feeder yards for the Monroe auto shredder, which is expected to be operational in mid-December, according to the company’s Steve Cooper. Cooper Recycling purchased the Monroe yard about two years ago, he says.

 

The 80/104 shredder, supplied by Metso Texas Shredder Inc., San Antonio, will include a downstream separation system supplied by SGM Magnetics, Fullerton, Calif.

 

Cooper says the company hopes to produce 10,000 tons per month of shredded material using the new equipment. He says the company decided to invest in the auto shredder now, despite the market downturn, in order to be well positioned to capitalize on a future upturn.
